Seafood Chef. The perfect part-time job!

 

Hooked on Fish, an Edgewater seafood market known for its very fresh fish and its customer service, is seeking a talented and enthusiastic chef to join our growing team. This is the perfect opportunity not only to make some extra cash, but to be a part of something new and exciting!

 

About us:

We are a growing, mission-driven seafood delivery and fish-market business, located in the Edgewater community. We are committed to providing superior fresh seafood and maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability of all sorts—from traceability to recycling. 

 

Chef’s responsibilities:

• Prepare a variety of seafood dishes (such as soups, burgers, spreads) for our grab-and-go cases.

• Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, quality, and freshness in all seafood preparation.

• Keep track of seafood inventory to maintain supplies of house-made products.

• Develop creative and delicious recipes that showcase our seafood.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including cleaning your work tools and devices and your work area, as well as helping clean common areas, doing dishes as needed.

• Provide exceptional customer service with a friendly and knowledgeable demeanor, as well as preparation suggestions, if requested.

 

Qualifications:

• Food safety and sanitation certification.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen setting.

• A passion for seafood and a desire to create innovative dishes.

• Ability to identify seafood, experience working with fresh seafood, including cleaning, filleting, and understanding of various cooking methods.

• Understanding and practicing the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety.

• Strong understanding of safe food-handling practices and sanitation procedures.

• Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• A sense of humor is required!
